CARA CHRISTMAS LUNCH

We are very pleased to announce the following arrangement with Clayton’s Kitchen, one of our favourite restaurants within our CARA area:

On arrival you will take the stairs to the lower floor to an attractive private dining room organised for our exclusive use.
This private dining room will be decorated with a Christmas tree and other festive decorations. Upon arrival you will receive a complimentary glass of prosecco or a soft drink in the bar area before taking your seat at one of the 6 tables.
You are asked to choose your festive lunch in advance from a three course menu, with at least 5 options for each course. Vegetarian options are also available for each course.
The cost will be £39 per head ( please see attached the Claytons Menu for you to pre-select your 3 course lunch: 1 x starter, 1 x main course and 1 x dessert course ).
You can, of course, purchase your own table wine, additional soft drinks and pre and post dining tipples, for which you should pay individually.
In order to be reasonably spaced we have restricted numbers to 44. We think it fair that priority should be given to full Members of CARA (two people per membership) in order of payment received. If any spaces remain on Monday 15th November, we will then open invitations up to our Associate Membership.
Various local businesses have offered us gifts so that we can run a raffle, with the proceeds going to a charity of CARA's choosing.

As Christmas is not far off, we need to commit to the 44 spaces very soon, and feel it is appropriate to ask for the full ticket amount now for members to secure their places at this event. Reservations can be confirmed with a cheque payable to CARA, or cash, £39 per person to Rosemarie Tunstall at 10 The Circus.
Of course, should government Covid restrictions, nearer the time of this event, impede our ability to hold this lunch then we would look to credit the pre-payments received for the event.

With kind regards,

Rosie Tunstall
Social Secretary
CARA.

Carols in the Circus

PLEASE NOTE: Due to adverse weather this event will be held on the piazza in front of the Assembly Rooms. We look forward to seeing you there!

Each year The Salvation Army Band come to play under the trees on the Circus Green for our annual carol singing charity event, organised by CARA (Circus Area Residents' Association) but open to all.

CARA members, neighbours, friends and visitors gather around and sing carols for about 45 minutes or so. A carol sheet is provided and a collection is taken for The Salvation Army, who do such outstanding work, especially at Christmas, supporting the aged, the lonely and families in need, funding food parcels and presents for children.

CARA is supported by The Circus restaurant, in Brock Street, who sets up a cash bar on the Green to sell mulled wine donating takings to to swell the collection, so that last year more than £1900 was raised for the Salvation Army from the approximately 650 people came along.

Please join us. You will be very welcome. We would love to see you!

CARA Christmas Lunch

CARA Christmas Lunch

CARA CHRISTMAS LUNCH AT THE 5 STAR GAINSBOROUGH HOTEL

Sunday 15th December at 12 noon for 12.30pm.

On arrival in the spacious main entrance, with its beautifully decorated large Christmas tree, we will proceed to the private Somerset Room for a pre-lunch glass of Prosecco or soft drink.
The festive lunch will be your choice from a three course menu, with three options for each course. A vegetarian option is available for each course. During the lunch, the Gainsborough has offered to gift us two bottles of Champagne so that we can run a raffle, with the proceeds to a charity of CARA's choosing.

Your Committee believes that the event will be a special experience for only £30 per person to include the glass of Prosecco (or soft drink) on arrival, the three course lunch and service charge. We have negotiated special prices for a bottle of house wine at £23 or a glass of wine for less than £6.

The Somerset Room has a maximum capacity of 40. We have, therefore, decided that priority should be given to full Members of CARA (two people per membership) to reflect our immediate community, in order of payment received. If any spaces remain on 1st August, we will open up the lunch to Associate Members and guests.

We recognise that Christmas is a long way off, but we need to commit to the 40 spaces very soon, and feel it is appropriate to ask for the full ticket amount now for members to secure their places at this special event.

Reservation with cheque payable to CARA, or cash, for £30 per person to Mrs Rosemarie Tunstall at 10 The Circus before 31st July, please.

Bath on Ice

The annual ‘Bath on Ice’ event will be held in Royal Avenue from Friday 15th November until Sunday 5th January 2020.

Last year, there were some noise issues with the generators needed to provide power. However, the organisers have worked hard to address these issues. Action taken includes upgrading the mains power line, securing more modern generators, re-siting the generators and making adjustments to enable more generators to be turned off at night. The organisers are confident that these measures taken will improve the situation for nearby residents in the coming season.

The organisers are planning a ‘Residents’ Evening’ for CARA members to enjoy a free skate and drink. This is tentatively arranged for Monday 18th November from 6.00 pm onwards. Families are extremely welcome to join in.
